Apply for Graduation

Graduate Programs have many different and unique requirements. This multi-step process ensures that all of your program requirements have been met prior to issuing your diploma.

Graduation Application

Complete and submit your Degree Completion Verification form (you must be logged into the Trailblazer network) online for your program by the program deadlines. See below for program specific details.

AND

Apply for Graduation through MyUT  (Click on Students, Then Click on Student Records, and then Click on graduation Application) and pay the graduation fee online with credit card or electronic check ($80 for graduate degrees). Students who apply after the deadline will be assessed a $50 late fee.

Graduation Application Deadlines

You must apply with the Registrar's office through MyUT by the below dates.

Fall Semester

Application due October 1st

Spring Semester

Application due February 1st

Summer Semester

Application due May 1st

Summer graduates who wish to participate in commencement ceremonies need to apply by the Spring deadline.

Graduate Degrees

Master of Accountancy (MAcc)

During the Final Semester of the Program

Master of Technical Writing and Digital Rhetoric, MA

During the 2nd to Last Semester:

  1. Complete the Degree Completion Verification Form (You will need to be on the Trailblazer WIFI network to login also view FAQs below for assistance.)

During the Final Semester:

  1. Apply for Graduation with the Registrar’s Office through MyUT; see deadlines above.
  2. Submit Thesis/Final Project  Completion Verification Form.

Masters of Marriage and Family Therapy, MMFT

During the Final Semester of the Program:

Complete the Degree Completion Verification Form (You will need to be on the Trailblazer WIFI network to login also view FAQs below for assistance).

AND

Apply for Graduation with the Registrar’s Office through MyUT; see deadlines above.

Marriage and Family Therapy, MS

During the Final Semester of the Program

  1. Complete the Degree Completion Verification Form (You will need to be on the Trailblazer WIFI network to login also view FAQs below for assistance.)
  2. Apply for Graduation with the Registrar’s Office through MyUT; see deadlines above.
  3. Submit Thesis/Final Project Completion Verification Form.

Master of Athletic Training

During the Final Semester of the Program:

What semester do I apply to graduate in?

The semester that you will have completed all requirements.** Summer graduates will have the opportunity to request to walk in Spring on the Summer application.

 

**The TWDR requires the Degree Completion  Verification form the 2nd to last semester.

How do I upload my Degree Works Plan of Study?

Login to Degree Works with your D-number, select Save as PDF, then select the Print option, then Print to PDF. (Do not download from Degree Works. The file doesn’t save as a pdf in this format.)

How do I pay the $80 fee?

The fee will be charged to your student account. This can be paid in person with cash or check at the Cashier’s Office or online.

Why is there more than one step in the graduation application process?

Graduate Programs have many different and unique requirements. This multi-step process ensures that all of your program requirements have been met prior to issuing your diploma.

What if my thesis/final project doesn't pass in the semester that I planned to graduate?

If you complete your thesis or final project within 30 days of the graduation date, your original graduation application will be sufficient.  If due to extenuating circumstances this completion may require an additional semester or more, you will need to either enroll in a Thesis/Final Project class the next semester/s, or complete a leave of absence form.  If the Office of Graduate Studies is notified of the delay prior to the original application graduation date, no additional application will be required.  If the Office of Graduate Studies is notified after the original application graduation date, the Graduation-Reapplication form and an additional $10 fee will be required.
