16 credit hours is the maximum amount for a graduate student in any single semester. A schedule of nine credit hours is considered a full load for masters and doctoral degrees.
Final grade is determined by the faculty member of this course which will be determined by successful and timely completion of projects in the course, arrange and verbally present art in studio visits, successfully integrate theory and strategies into art as outlined in the agreement.
The students graduate thesis committee should have an in-depth knowledge, approve the direction, focus of studio research that is a result of this contract. The committee will also have to approve the requested hours. Students are expected to spend significant time in the studio exploring media, concepts, and goals of their artistic research. A minimum of 9 hours a week is required in the studio for a 3-credit workload. Describe the goals of the directed study including course requirements and the plan for regular critiques of work. Keep in mind faculty have other teaching and university responsibilities. It is necessary to create a meeting schedule in advance to fit both schedules.
